Your checklist for your Bachelor's or Master's degree programme
Are you ready to start? Here you will find an overview of the most important admission requirements and official documents that you need for your studies at IU. With this practical checklist, you'll keep track of everything and won't forget anything. So nothing can go wrong!
Completed online application and confirmed study contract
Officially certified copy of your higher education entrance qualification by post: (Fach-)Abitur or subject-linked higher education entrance qualification, master craftsman's certificate, advanced training, training certificate incl. proof of the necessary professional experience.
Curriculum vitae in tabular form with details of training, studies and work experience
Registering your studies with the health insurance fund*.
Copy of your official photo ID
If applicable, proof of your language skills (not older than two years)
*In order to do this, you must inform your health insurance company as soon as possible about the start of your studies so that they can register you with us.
Your university entrance qualification
To start a study programme at an institution of higher education, you need a certified copy of a university entrance qualification. Even if you don't have a high school diploma, you may still be able to study – for example if you have completed vocational training. In this video, we explain to you how to obtain a certified copy.

Don't have a traditional university entrance qualification? That doesn't matter! Your IU distance learning programme will also work without an Abitur. Not every educational path runs in a straight line: that's why you can also study at IU with a master's certificate or relevant work experience. The best thing about distance learning?
