Your dual study programme Architektur (B.A.)
Accreditation of the dual Bachelor's degree programme in Architecture at IU International University (IU) from October 2024 has been closely coordinated with the Federal Chamber of Architects. It is therefore eligible for admission to the Chamber and can be the first step in your career as an architect. The programme provides you with the following knowledge:
Conceptual design and representation / design theory
Particularly practice-oriented basic training
Promotion of spatial thinking skills and a feeling for aesthetics
Skills to coordinate and supervise building projects
Overview of the professional challenges in architecture
Theoretical foundations and social and cultural aspects in architecture
Specialisation areas in sustainable building and design
Your study model: Dual study programme
You complete your degree programme with courses on campus. You will learn in small groups, can actively participate and ask questions. You will apply what you have learnt in projects and at work with your practice partner.
Our 180 ECTS degree programme is not sufficient to obtain the professional title of "architect". You can find out more about the requirements below under "The path to becoming an architect".

The goal of the eight-semester dual bachelor's degree program in architecture is to impart valuable and practical knowledge and skills in the areas of:
General basics as well as design and project work (esp. residential construction, public buildings, industrial construction, urban development).
Representation and design (basics, model construction, computer-aided design)
Cost and time planning, building law as well as construction and technology (timber construction and sustainable building)
Urban and landscape planning
Possible compulsory elective areas such as "Architecture of the City", "Building Construction" or "Representation and Design" to deepen knowledge

Der Bachelor-Studiengang Architektur ab Oktober 2024 ist kammerfähig, reicht allerdings nicht aus, um sich direkt danach Architekt:in nennen zu dürfen.
Damit Du die Berufsbezeichnung "Architekt:in" in Deutschland tragen kannst, musst Du in die Liste einer Architektenkammer eingetragen sein. Dafür benötigst Du folgende Voraussetzungen:

Ein Architektur Master-Studium
Mindestens zwei Jahre praktische Berufserfahrung
