Your IU Studies in Childhood Education are self-determined and flexible. Numerous selection and design options make it easy for you to combine your Bachelor's degree programme with your individual everyday life. As far as the content is concerned, you will deal intensively with the areas of care, education and upbringing. The examination of socio-pedagogical, psychological and neurobiological basics that are important for early childhood development is also part of your studies.
In addition, you will acquire methodological competences to be able to supervise inpatient as well as outpatient development programmes later on. You can deepen your knowledge in your compulsory elective area in certain subject areas such as child day care or leisure pedagogy.
A look into the future: what you will do after graduation
After completing your Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education, if you choose the dual study programme, you will automatically receive the title "State-recognised Childhood Educator". If you choose the distance learning programme, you will have to complete an internship in early Childhood Education to earn this title. After graduation, you can use your expertise to support families and educational institutions in the development and promotion of important relationship and educational skills.
Your degree in Childhood Education, combined with the necessary professional experience, also qualifies you to take on management functions. This gives you the opportunity to design programmes according to the latest scientific findings. Following your Bachelor's degree, you can also complete a Master's degree at IU.
