Degree: B.A., 180 ECTS credits Study
Duration: 6 Semesters

Study Model & Examinations
Regular classes led by lecturers from the field at the location or virtual campus. In addition, digital self-study to prepare for face-to-face meetings. In addition, digital self-study to prepare for attendance phases. Exams can be taken at your location or flexibly online.
Courses
2-3 days per week in the attendance phase. Practical work with your fellow students under the guidance of experienced lecturers. Days and times vary depending on location/semester.

In the Bachelor's programme in Childhood Pedagogy, you will learn all the essentials in the areas of care, education and upbringing. You will also acquire skills and competencies in the areas of relationship building, cooperation, communication and interaction. Two recognised internships in the compulsory elective area (40 days) and as an extracurricular elective module (60 days) help you to put what you have learned into practice. And the degree qualifies you to provide expert advice and support to children, their parents or families and the relevant cooperation structures.
You study topics that are divided into so-called modules. On successful completion of these modules, your achievements are recorded as ECTS points (European Credit Transfer System). With these points, your achievements are internationally comparable and recognised.

State recognition + recognised internship in Kindheitspädagogik
Students on the Childhood Education degree programme are awarded the title "State-recognised Childhood Educator" if they successfully complete the recognition internships in Early Childhood Education I + II. State recognition is mandatory if you want to work as a childhood educator in a state institution, such as a municipal daycare centre. In addition, many independent organisations also require state recognition for employment as a childhood educator. We therefore recommend that you complete the recognition internships and apply for state recognition.
