Why you should study social work
A university degree can open various doors for you and creates more opportunities for growth and freedom in your future. This is what your social work studies at the IU look like
In the Social Work degree study programme, you can specialise in specific fields of social work with elective specialisations that are taught in different courses. These include, among others, Social Management, Digital Skills, leadership functions in social institutions, Social Economy and Social Economics or Social Inequality and Diversity. At the same time as your academic degree, you will receive the title "State-recognised social worker" or "State-recognised social pedagogue" if you have successfully completed the Social Work Practice Project (internship).

Through the combination of profession-specific and transdisciplinary scientific knowledge and the practice-oriented approach, you will receive a degree that will enable you to act in a solution-oriented manner in everyday practice and to be able to make decisions in the interest of all parties involved. With your bachelor’s degree, various doors are open to you, whether in social work institutions, in the public sector, in an outpatient context or with companies or social organisations.
